Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't you use musical instruments in worship?

In the New Testament scripture, we find that singing is the only form of music used in worshiping God.  Musical instruments were added many years later with no scriptural foundation.  Here is what the Bible says regarding music used in worship.

Before the church was established, Christ and his disciples used would sing.  This example is just after Christ established his memorial.

(Mat 26:30 KJV) And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives

Many other passages show only the use of singing in worship:

  • Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Eph 5:19 KJV)
  • Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Col 3:16 KJV)
  • What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. (1 Cor 14:15 KJV)
  • Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. (James 5:13 KJV)

Through the Bible, we know that God is pleased with singing.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:15-16 KJV)
